Steps to Take Care of Your Eyebrows After Microblading

So you’ve taken the courage and just completed your first brow tattoo. Congratulations! You’re on the road to more sleep ins and ‘brows on fleek’ compliments – do they even say that anymore?
But before we get to that, there’s a few things you should know on how to take care of your new eyebrows and prolong it’s lifespan.

We’ve got some hot tips from one of our Eyebrow Specialists, Kyla Daly from The Brow Parlour, to help us understand the importance of brow aftercare. Note: All versions of cosmetic brow tattooing are semi permanent and will fade over time. So this is totally normal!

Self care

  • Avoid getting the area wet for up to 10 days, which includes keeping your face dry during a shower.
  • Don’t wear makeup on the treated area for at least 14 days. This is because the pigments are still settling in and we want to avoid colour change in the pigment as well as avoid infection.
  • Don’t pick at scabs, tug, or itch the eyebrow area.
  • Avoid saunas, swimming, and excessive sweating until the area is completely healed or at least for the first 10 days.
  • Apply healing balm provided by your technician
Microblading is also known as eyebrow feathering

Getting touch ups

Kyla recommends that you refresh your cosmetic tattoo roughly between 9-12 months. This will vary from client to client.

Refreshing your eyebrows will fill in any gaps and darkening strokes that may have faded after the first treatment.

Microblading has the ability to look completely natural when blended amongst existing hair or none at all. The strokes mimic real brow hair and are individually customised to suit your face shape.

However, don’t be afraid to let your eyebrow specialist know what you’re after. Communicate this and your specialist will be able to provide you a better consultation and their suggestions.

After the initial two sessions, Microblading will last anywhere between 9-12 months depending on the skin type. Drier skin types tend to retain the pigment better than oilier skin types. Clients who are heavy users of “active” ingredients in their skincare such as retinol, AHA and vitamin A, C and E are not recommended to undergo this treatment unless they completely avoid those products near their brows.

Clients with oily skin types are recommended a combination of Microblading/ shading (Combination Brow) or simply a shading (Ombre Powder Brow).
